Can I use VocaScript without signing up?
Yes. Guests can transcribe with limits on how much they can run per day and how long each file can be. Create a free account with Google, GitHub, Discord, Facebook, or TikTok for higher limits.
Can I use VocaScript for free?
Yes. Guests and Free plan users can transcribe within the limits shown above. You can also bring your own API key so transcription runs on your key instead of counting against your plan allowance. Duration limits still apply when using your own key.
What happens when I hit my monthly limit?
When you run out of allowance you can wait for it to reset at the start of next month, upgrade for more, or add your own API key so usage runs on your key instead of your plan. Per-file duration limits still apply either way.
When does my monthly transcription allowance reset?
Your transcription minutes reset at the start of each calendar month. This is not tied to your billing date. If you run out mid-month you can wait for the reset, upgrade your plan, or use your own API key.
Is there a daily transcription limit?
Yes. Guests and Free accounts have a daily cap on the number of transcriptions they can run, shown in the plan comparison above. Pro and Business plans have no daily limit. Daily counts reset at midnight. Using your own API key removes the daily limit.
What happens if my file is longer than my plan allows?
We don’t reject it. Instead, we transcribe the first portion up to your plan’s duration limit and deliver that partial transcript. You’ll see a notice showing how much was transcribed and how to unlock longer files by upgrading.
What if I don’t have enough monthly minutes for my whole file?
If your remaining monthly balance can’t cover the full file, we’ll offer to transcribe as much as your balance allows instead of blocking you entirely. You’ll see the offer before processing starts, so you can decide whether to proceed with the partial transcription or wait for your monthly reset.
What exactly does using my own API key unlock?
Using your own API key removes your monthly transcription allowance and daily transcription count — usage runs on your key instead of your plan. Per-file duration limits still apply regardless. Your plan tier otherwise stays the same — storage, file retention, export formats, and processing priority are unchanged.
Does proofreading count toward my monthly transcription minutes?
No. Proofreading works on text only, so it doesn’t consume your transcription allowance. It’s available on all plans, with Pro and Business getting unlimited use.
Does retranscription use my monthly minutes?
Yes. Retranscribing a segment re-processes the audio, so the duration of the retranscribed portion is deducted from your monthly allowance and daily count, just like an original transcription. Using your own API key avoids these deductions.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Paid plans can be canceled from Manage billing in the account menu. You keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens when I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Upgrades take effect immediately — your new limits apply right away. If you downgrade or cancel, you keep your current plan’s benefits until the end of your paid billing period.
Do you offer refunds?
We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first paid purchase, once per account, with details and exceptions in our Refund Policy and Terms of Service. After that window you can still cancel anytime to avoid future charges. See those pages for how to request a refund or manage billing.
What export formats are supported?
You need a free account to export from the app. On the Free plan you get plain text (TXT). Pro and Business add subtitle and structured data exports (SRT, VTT, JSON).
How is my data stored and managed?
Guest work stays on your device. With an account, your files sync to our cloud for cross-device access, subject to the storage and retention limits shown for each plan above. We recommend downloading anything you need to keep long-term.
Can I pay annually instead of monthly?
Yes. Use the monthly/annual toggle on this page to compare prices. Annual billing is charged once per year at the rate shown when you choose yearly checkout.
What currency are prices in, and what payment methods do you accept?
All prices are in USD. Payments are processed securely and credit and debit cards are accepted. Your card will be charged in USD and your bank may apply its own conversion rate.
