How to transcribe a Vimeo video
- 1 Open the video on Vimeo and copy its address, such as vimeo.com/123456789. For an unlisted video, copy the full link, including the code after the number.
- 2 Paste it above and select "Process Media".
- 3 When processing finishes, the transcript shows speakers labeled and a timestamp on every segment.
- 4 Export it as TXT for free, or as SRT or VTT on a paid plan. Vimeo accepts both as caption files.

Which Vimeo videos can I transcribe?
Most public videos, and unlisted videos with their full link, work. Videos protected by a password, and videos that only play when embedded on another website, cannot be transcribed from a Vimeo link. If the video is yours, upload the original file on the video file page instead.
Why did my Vimeo link fail?
The most common reason is a video that only plays after signing in to Vimeo. For those, the browser extension transcribes the video from your own signed-in session. A password, an unlisted link without the code that follows its number, or a removed video also cause failures. If you own the video, uploading the original file is the most reliable option.
Can I transcribe a whole showcase or channel?
Paste the link to each video separately. Showcase and channel pages list several videos at once.
Can I add the transcript as captions on Vimeo?
Yes. Vimeo lets video owners add caption files. Export the transcript as VTT or SRT on a paid plan and upload it in the video's settings on Vimeo.
How long can a Vimeo video be?
Without an account, one transcription covers up to 5 minutes of each video. A free account covers up to 25 minutes per transcription, within 120 minutes per month, and you can continue a longer video from where its transcript stopped. Paid plans cover up to 4 hours per transcription on Plus, 8 hours on Pro and 16 hours on Max.
Is VocaScript free, and do I need an account?
Yes. You can transcribe without an account. A free account gives you more minutes, longer transcriptions and your transcripts on every device. If you reach a limit as a guest, sign in and try again from the same page.
