Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about using VocaScript.

Why did my Patreon link fail?
Most Patreon posts need a signed-in session with access to the post, and a pasted link does not carry one, so only posts that anyone can open work when pasted. For the others, use the browser extension on the post: it transcribes the post using your own signed-in browser session.
Does a paid plan give access to more posts?
No. A plan raises your transcription limits, such as episode length and minutes per month. What you can open on Patreon is set by Patreon and by your own account there, so a post your Patreon account cannot open cannot be transcribed.
Does it work with audio and video posts?
Audio posts, podcast episodes and videos uploaded to Patreon all transcribe the same way. When a post embeds a video from another site, such as YouTube or Vimeo, transcribe it from that site's link instead.
What do creators use Patreon transcripts for?
Show notes, searchable archives of past episodes, captions for video posts, and text versions for supporters who prefer to read.
How long can a Patreon episode be?
Without an account, one transcription covers up to 5 minutes of each episode. A free account covers up to 25 minutes per transcription, within 120 minutes per month, and you can continue a longer episode from where its transcript stopped. Paid plans cover up to 4 hours per transcription on Plus, 8 hours on Pro and 16 hours on Max.
Is VocaScript free, and do I need an account?
Yes. You can transcribe without an account. A free account gives you more minutes, longer transcriptions and your transcripts on every device. If you reach a limit as a guest, sign in and try again from the same page.
