Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about using VocaScript.
Why did my Substack link fail?
Check that the link opens a single post with an audio or video player. Text-only posts, profile pages and the publication's home page have nothing to transcribe. If the post is yours, you can also upload the original file on the audio file or video file page.
Is there a more reliable link for a Substack podcast?
Yes. When a Substack podcast is also listed in Apple Podcasts, paste that episode link instead. It transcribes reliably.
I write on Substack. What can I do with a transcript?
Publish a text version of an audio or video post for readers who prefer to read, pull quotes for the email, and add captions to your video.
How long can a Substack recording be?
Without an account, one transcription covers up to 5 minutes of each file. A free account covers up to 25 minutes per transcription, within 120 minutes per month, and you can continue a longer file from where its transcript stopped. Paid plans cover up to 4 hours per transcription on Plus, 8 hours on Pro and 16 hours on Max.
Is VocaScript free, and do I need an account?
Yes. You can transcribe without an account. A free account gives you more minutes, longer transcriptions and your transcripts on every device. If you reach a limit as a guest, sign in and try again from the same page.
