Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about using VocaScript.
Why does my Drive link fail?
Almost always because of sharing. Open the file's Share settings and set General access to Anyone with the link. A folder link, or a file that was moved to the trash, also fails.
Can I paste a Drive folder link?
No. Paste the link to a single file. Folder links, which contain /folders/, list many files. Links to Google Docs, Sheets or Slides have no audio to transcribe.
Are Drive files limited in length?
Drive files follow the same limits as uploads. Without an account, one transcription covers up to 5 minutes of each file. A free account covers up to 25 minutes per transcription, within 120 minutes per month, and you can continue a longer file from where its transcript stopped. Paid plans cover up to 4 hours per transcription on Plus, 8 hours on Pro and 16 hours on Max.
Can I transcribe a Google Meet recording from Drive?
Yes. Meet saves recordings to the organizer's Drive, in the Meet Recordings folder. Open the recording, set its sharing to Anyone with the link, and paste the file link above.
Is VocaScript free, and do I need an account?
Yes. You can transcribe without an account. A free account gives you more minutes, longer transcriptions and your transcripts on every device. If you reach a limit as a guest, sign in and try again from the same page.
